Today’s Daily Dose of the Dead is from a show I attended 34 fucking years ago today! Time flies but the memories remain. This two night run was one of my first two nighters.

This is Cassidy from the first set. Jerry really blazes during his solo. One of my favorite bob tunes!

This set also included a scorching Jack Straw to close the set and a fantastic Scarlet > Fire to start the second set. The Ramble On and Estimated > Eyes that followed were also pretty amazing.

1: Stranger, Peggy-O, Cassidy, FOTD, Minglewood, Cold Rain> L. L. Rain, Easy To Love You, Althea, Jack Straw

2: Scarlet> Fire, C. C. Rider> Ramble On, Estimated> Eyes> Drumz> NFA> Black Peter> Sugar Magnolia E: Saturday Night

Enjoy!

"Lost now on the country miles in his Cadillac. I can tell by the way you smile, he is rolling back. Come wash the night-time clean. Come grow the scorched ground green. Blow the horn, tap the tambourine, close the gap of the dark years in between. You and me, Cassidy.”

The size, shape, smell, texture and sound of a vinyl record; how do you explain to that teenager who doesn’t know that it’s a more beautiful musical experience than a mouse click? You get up off your ass, you grab them by the arm and you take them there. You put the record in their hands. You make them drop the needle on the platter. Then they’ll know.

One day, you’re 17 and you’re planning for someday. And then quietly, without you ever really noticing, someday is today. And then someday is yesterday. And this is your life.
